Josip has been an official barista in Franck since 2014. His journey into the world of coffee began in high school when there was no mention of the term "barista" in Croatia.
Josip has been an official barista in Franck since 2014. His journey into the world of coffee began in high school when there was no mention of the term "barista" in Croatia. Josip points out that , already as a high school student, he often criticized the preparation of coffee, more on the variety of tastes and preparation of a cappuccino, than on the quality itself. He says that not much was known at the time about how important the quality and proper preparation of coffee drinks really are.
After high school, Josip decided to try out catering, and over the years he had the opportunity to work in various positions, from waiters, bartenders, baristas, to bar managers.
Ten years ago, he focused professionally on coffee through the World Barista Championship (WBC), a world-renowned barista competition in which he won numerous awards.
Josip emphasizes that he is grateful that in the past six years, as long as he has been employed at Franck as a barista. The company is constantly investing in his knowledge and competencies, and this gives him the right meaning and will to progress and learn. Together with his team, he is the owner of the prestigious Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) certificates awarded for many years of experience and knowledge in the world of coffee. It is these recognitions that give them the credibility to pass on the same knowledge to their partners and the opportunity to spread awareness about their favorite black beverage, which Josip and his colleagues are extremely proud of.
